Announcing the Carol Rowen 180 Degree Award Honoree and Scholarship Recipients

We are excited to announce Tommy Daniels of San Pedro High School as the recipient of the 2024 Carol Rowen 180 Degree Award! Named after EXP’s founder and former Port of Los Angeles commissioner Carol Rowen, this award goes to a student who has overcome significant challenges to turn their life around in a positive direction while participating in an EXP program. (Watch us surprise him at school!)

Tommy began his EXP journey as a shy freshman, participating in our virtual Young Fellows Program (YFP), a mentorship program for boys of color, with his camera off and his mic muted. Over the years, Tommy has grown into a leader of his peers as the youngest YFP ambassador in his cohort, continuing to encourage others to participate in EXP programs. The confidence he had gained led him to his EXP internship with the Port of Los Angeles last summer, where he continued to impress everyone he met with his curiosity, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude.

We urge you not to miss this opportunity to support Tommy and other scholarship recipients! Individual tickets are still available, but they won't be for long. Act now to secure your place at this inspiring event!

Congratulations, Scholarship Recipients!
