Our Students Need YOU!

“The number one resource that any community partner or industry can give to school is not equipment or money; it's your time and expertise because they will impact a student for a lifetime.” - Mikle McBride, Long Beach Unified School District.

Just a few hours of your time can change the trajectory of our students’ career journeys! We have various volunteer opportunities available that would suit your time and talent. For more information, please contact Devyn Depree, Program Coordinator, at devyn@expfuture.org.

Multiple Days in May: Carson High School - Senior Defense

Contact: Sandra Rascon - sandra@expfuture.org.

What is your role? As a part of a panel of “guest observers,” you will provide feedback on their presentation skills and whether they meet all the requirements. (More details attached.)

Wednesday, May 15 - Sato Academy of Math & Science - 9th Grade Project Demonstration Day

Contact: Tandy Nguyen - tandy@expfuture.org

What is Demonstration Day? Students have spent the year designing assistive devices for LBUSD peers as part of the Make:Able challenge, supported by industry feedback sessions and a visit to Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. This is their opportunity to showcase what they've built and the design process behind it as well as the collaboration and connection involved with the student who they are designing their product for. Your perspective would be incredibly meaningful to them.

Who we are looking for: Professionals with design, engineering, occupational therapy, or disability assistance backgrounds.

What is your role? Panel judges to engage with student teams, provide feedback, and score poster presentations using a simple rubric.

  • Time commitment: 1 hour block throughout the day
