EXP Alum Jebriel Rogong is Building Community Through Connection

From Narbonne High School’s BETA Magnet (Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Academy) to leading a growing regional network, Class of 2016 Jebriel Rogong’s journey is rooted in purpose and community impact.

After graduating from Sacramento State, Jebriel returned home, working in public service, healthcare, and later as a social worker and program director with Los Angeles County. Along the way, a deep dive into the region’s economic history sparked the creation of South Bay Network (SBN)—a cross-sector effort focused on collaboration, workforce alignment, and long-term regional growth.

Jebriel credits EXP with helping shape his path. "EXP provided early exposure to professional environments and expectations, which taught me the importance of accountability, discipline, and follow-through," said Jebriel. "More importantly, EXP encouraged me to think beyond short-term outcomes and consider long-term impact, responsibility, and purpose in the work I pursue. The foundation I gained through EXP plays a meaningful role in how I lead SBN and how I think about serving the broader community."

Today, SBN brings together businesses, education, workforce, and community partners to reduce fragmentation and create practical pathways for economic development. One of its first major initiatives, the South Bay Business Expo, taking place at EXP's education partner California State University, Dominguez Hills, will bring together businesses and educators to create a shared space for connection, visibility, and workforce development.

"When local businesses are supported and aligned with education, workforce, and community resources, the benefits extend beyond individual organizations and contribute to stronger neighborhoods, more stable employment, and long-term regional growth," said Jebriel. "Supporting SBN is important to the community because it helps create a more connected, resilient, and informed regional economy."

Jebriel is proof of what’s possible when early opportunity meets purpose-driven leadership. We are proud to celebrate his success and support his endeavor!
