Help Wanted: EXP Summer Interns Looking to Gain Experience and Help Your Business

They trained throughout the school year and are now prepared and polished with the soft skills your organization requires, and eager to gain real-world workforce experience while contributing to your organization’s project needs this summer!

EXP prepares high school students from local communities for future career success. Right now, we are looking to place at least 30 more qualified internship candidates into flexible, virtual summer internship experiences as part of our popular EXP Internship Program: Powered by Prologis.

Internships start on Monday, June 28th, and are time-flexible! Your organization can choose to host a student for as little as one week to as long as four weeks - either part-time (2 hours a day) or full-time (4 hours a day). You decide. Our interns are also prepared to help in a virtual remote-online capacity, so your business’s geographic location is not an issue for them.

EXP also seeks to ensure that all interns receive some type of financial support as part of their experience, either through their employer’s payroll, scholarship award or stipend at the hourly rate of at least the Los Angeles minimum wage rate of $15.00 per hour.

Please take the next step and act today to give our students the opportunity to gain workforce experience and prepare for their future careers! Your organization will be recognized as part of a growing list of more than 25 employers across Southern California in hosting a student intern this summer.

For more information, please contact Maribel Alejandre, EXP Program Manager, Internship and Outreach at maribel@expfuture.org or call 424.439.2440 by no later than Tuesday, June 1 to request an EXP intern!

5 Reasons Why Your Organization Needs a Virtual High School Intern

1. Get the backburner projects done! EXP interns have participated in several professional development courses throughout this school year, which have prepared them for internship success. They are now ready to help you to organize your files, catalog your documents, or do research that you have been putting on the backburner!

2. Get fresh perspectives. Our past employers said they enjoyed the enthusiasm and energy our interns have brought to their businesses as well as new ideas from outside the organization.

3. Improve your internal training program. Some organizations, such as Westcoast Warehousing (featured in video below), develop better internal training for other employees and new hires based on what they learned from working with our interns.

4. Create your future hiring pool. There’s no better way to build a future workforce pipeline than hosting an intern! You are exposing students to your company and industry and opening the doors for future employee recruitment.

5. Make a difference in a young person’s life. Your internship opportunity will influence a student's future, providing them with experience that they may otherwise be able to access. Whether it’s their college goals or career aspirations, or simply learning new skills, your company can help change a life.
