Following a successful pilot last fall, the Regional Directors of Business & Entrepreneurship, Advanced Transportation and Logistics and Global Trade from the California Community Colleges Priority Sectors in the Los Angeles Region are partnering with EXP to create a robust library of virtual content and programming to connect students to career pathways in emerging industries.

The collaboration with EXP will build upon ProvenReady’s foundation established with the help of Eddie Lin, founder and CEO of Nexus Edge, a skills assessment and career readiness platform.

This work aligns perfectly with the goals of Regional Directors Ruth Amanuel, Katie Mishler, and Judy Fox, who worked together to create the ProvenReady: Classroom > College > Career Program, which connects high school students to college and career pathways while offering opportunities for students to earn industry-certified digital verification across all three sectors.

Under the newly-formed partnership EXP and ProvenReady will work together to develop a library of virtual content focused on exposing students and educators to industry sectors to increase knowledge, awareness and help build a future talent pipeline. EXP’s network of more than 400 volunteers, largely made-up of companies and professionals, will be key to this process. Content will be created this summer and made available to students in the fall of 2020.

Planned content includes:

  • Guest speakers

  • Virtual workplace tours

  • Skills assessments through NexusEdge

  • Professional development for teachers

EXP will also work with the regional directors to host a teacher-professional development event during the 2020 calendar year. The event will provide an opportunity for K-12 and community college instructors to learn about local employers, trends, skill requirements and career opportunities, and promote pathway collaboration between high school and community college faculty.

“We are proud and excited about our new partnership with ProvenReady,” said Amy Grat, CEO, EXP. “It will provide the capability for more students, educators and industry professionals to benefit from our virtual work-based learning content and encourage meaningful careers in the high growth industry sectors of global trade, logistics, transportation and entrepreneurship.”
