Record Number of Female High School Students Turnout for EXP’s 4th Annual WOMEN in STEM Career Day

The air was bursting with energy and inspiration last Friday, February 21st, at EXP’s 4th Annual Women in STEM Career Day held at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).  

A total of 370 female high school students from 13 high schools in Southern California learned about future career possibilities in science, technology, engineering and math – a 48 percent increase over last year.

“The career fair today was really eye-opening. I didn’t know, and my friends didn’t know, how many opportunities there are out there for jobs and for everybody’s different interests,” said one student. “It was definitely inspiring for most of the girls here, I can say.”

Watson Land Company Shows Its Commitment to EXP and Carson

On March 4, Carson High School's ESET students received a surprise visit from Watson Land Company's V.P., Public Affairs, Trini M. Jimenez. He emphasized the company's ongoing commitment to EXP's programs for the students, and its 200 year history in the Carson community.

"We believe that young people in this community are the most important investment," said Jimenez in talking with the students. "That is why we continue to support EXP and Carson High School. We want to do our part to encourage students to stay in the program and go on to explore careers."

Jimenez culminated his visit by presenting a $25,000 check from Watson Land Company in support of EXP's work.

EXP Helped Narbonne High School Students Bridge the Networking Gap

EXP Program Team Welcomes Two New Members

This is the first week at EXP for Tracy Palacios, our new Program Manager, Internship & Outreach! Tracy is your point of contact for more information on hosting and/or sponsoring summer interns from EXP's esteemed Internship Program. Tracy brings with her a strong background in both education and business, having formerly worked for Long Beach Unified School District, California State University Long Beach and Dekra-Lite Industries. Earlier in January, Program Coordinator Eva Levingston joined EXP. She supports our program team in successful youth engagement through the creation, delivery and evaluation of EXP's student workshops and other program services. Eva earned a B.S. Health Science: Community Health from CSU Dominguez Hills.

There are just a handful of openings left for corporate volunteers to help prepare high school students for their summer internship interviews as part of the EXP Internship Program: Powered by Prologis
